MIle For a Child 5k Hope Run and Walk

Saving Orphans Through Healthcare and Outreach began a tradition of hosting a 5K Mile For A Child Hope Run and Walk, October 2010.  Since then, the event has continued to grow locally, and there are big plans for the future!

The goal of this event is to raise awareness of child headed households a well as the resources to run the programs that help to change their lives for the better.

Every runner and walker at this event makes a difference in the lives of the children as all the proceeds raised from this event are used to heal, educate, feed, parent, and nurture our child headed households. They quite literally “run for the lives” of our children.

World AIDS Day, December 1st

World AIDS Day is commemorative to all those who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.  December 1st holds meaning for us, as it is also a day for us to recognize the plight of many AIDS affected orphaned and vulnerable children in the Southern African communities we serve.

The Black Shoe Brunch

The Black Shoe Brunch is scheduled for the first Sunday in December.  On December 4, 2011 guests wore black shoes, and brought a new or slightly used pair of black closed toe shoes to a brunch held at SOHO headquarters. This event provides shoes for children in Swaziland that need them to attend school.

The Black Shoe Brunch also provides an opportunity for SOHO to recognize current volunteers, and educate new friends interested in volunteering!
