PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT ABUSE PREVENTION

 This year, proceeds will go toward SASY! (Strong As Steel, YEBO!) a HIV/AIDS and abuse prevention program using music as a medium to save lives. In Southern Africa, more than 1 in 3 girls experience sexual abuse. According to a report by BBC news, “A female born in South Africa has a greater chance of being raped in her lifetime than learning how to read (Dempster, 2002). 1 in every 5 women in Indiana has been a victims of rape. Indiana has the second highest rate in the nation of forced sex (in grades 9-12), but only 15% of sexual assaults and rapes in Indiana are reported. SOHO’s abuse prevention program will engage youth in Indiana as well as in Swaziland.
