Angela Brown- With a charming personality larger than life, Angela Brown unites opera, pops, and gospel in one sensational voice. A featured artist on the two-time Grammy Award® winning recording“Ask Your Mama,” her voice has been celebrated on CBS Weekend News, CNN, in Oprah Magazine, and beyond. A proud Hoosier, Angela is a recipient of the Indiana University African American Arts Institute’s inaugural Herman C. Hudson Alumni Award, the Indiana Governor’s Arts Award and the Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
Amina Dzananovic- Amina has been performing spoken word since high school, when her high school poetry slam team “Tribe Called West” made it to the top 4 in the “Louder Than A Bomb Competition.” Amina continues to perform in the Chicagoland area and is working on publishing a collection of her pieces. She hopes to inspire young Muslim girls to have a strong voice and positive presence in America.
Caroline Rothstein- a New York City-based award-winning writer, poet, and performer. She has been performing poetry, public speaking, facilitating workshops and teaching at colleges, schools, community organizations and performance venues worldwide for over a decade. Her writing has appeared in Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, BuzzFeed, Narratively, The Forward and elsewhere. Called “a very inspiring woman” by Lady Gaga, Caroline and her work have been featured widely including in The New Yorker, MTV News, Chicago Tribune, The Huffington Post, Mic, Bustle, and Newsweek. She sits as President Emeritus of the Board of Directors for Mental Fitness, Inc., and is a Youth Mentor at Urban Word NYC.
Dawn Batson- a creative professional with over twenty years of experience in multi-cultural education, Dawn utilizes music and the arts with special emphasis on steel drum as a medium for cross-cultural outreach and economic empowerment. She has toured internationally with cultural groups and steel orchestras and served as the first Board Chair of the Trinidad and Tobago National Steel Orchestra. Dawn is also the Coordinator of the Strong as Steel Music intervention program by SOHO. She has been honored as a Who’s Who in America; Who’s Who in American Teachers; Who’s Who in American Women; and is a recipient of the Caribbean Cultural Leadership Award. Dawn will be performing with Jimmy Finnie, Director of Indiana State University’s Percussion Ensemble and Steel Drum Band, and Murray Mast.
Paula Dione Ingram- A Grammy nominated artist described as one of the finest singing actresses of our time, Ingram is a winning performer trained in the field of opera, musical theatre and cabaret. A native of St. Louis, Ingram made her London “West-End” debut in the title role of Oscar Hammerstein’s Carmen Jones. Ingram recorded the opera with the Glyndebourne cast and London Philharmonic and the subsequent album was nominated for a Grammy.
